In this issue:

  • Menswear designer Mike Amiri

  • More Chanel scoops

  • Couture snippets

  • Lanvin has finally hired an excellent designer

L.A.-based designer Mike Amiri at his menswear show in Paris.

Stars and sparkle: that’s what the Amiri menswear show in the Jardin des Plantes was about—both in the audience and on the runway. Hundreds of fans were gathered in the street at the entrance of the park, screaming as K-pop star Sunwoo, Columbian singer Maluma, NFL player Raymond McCloud III, and French rapper Kalash stepped out of their black-windowed luxury vans, accompanied by hulking bodyguards.

They came to see Amiri’s California-meets-the-Continent chic: slouchy tuxedos awash in sequins, mid-century-style sweaters strewn with sparkle, bead-embroidered guayabera-like shirts embroidered with tiny beads, and little neckerchiefs held closed with bejeweled brooches. Colors were Crayola-retro—sea green, teal blue, raw umber, burnt siena, and maize.
